Firefighters hose down the smoldering
remains of the old 84 Lumber building on U.S. 35, west of
St. Albans, after it caught fire Tuesday morning. The roof
of the structure collapsed, but the building was empty. The
fire remains under investigation. In January 2005, about 40
workers lost their jobs when 84 Lumber’s component plant at
the site closed. Firefighters were called back to the scene
later in the day when the building reunited. |
