Nine people were transported to hospitals after a
six-vehicle wreck Tuesday afternoon near the Cedar Grove Go-Mart.
None of the people appeared to have life-threatening injuries. All
six vehicles appeared to be traveling east on U.S. 60, but it’s
unclear exactly what caused the wreck, said Kanawha County Sheriff’s
Sgt. C.A. Jones. Apparently the first impact was between a cement
truck and another vehicle, he said. Concrete truck driver Bruce Ford
of Montgomery was declared at fault on a police report, a sheriff's
department dispatcher said. He will be cited for failure to maintain
control of his vehicle. The cement truck and a Jeep Cherokee wound
up on the tracks, shutting down railroad traffic until CSX
inspectors determine whether the track is safe for use, Jones said.
Traffic on U.S. 60 was halted for several hours. Names of the
injured were not immediately available because they were taken to
many different hospitals, he said. Earlier this month, five people
were killed in a two-vehicle wreck nearby on the same road in the
Glasgow area.
