Area 26 6/23/2008 School Fire

A fire in the cafeteria caused the evacuation of Flinn Elementary School in Sissonville on Monday, said Sissonville volunteer fire chief Tom Johnson.
The fire started at about 3 p.m. because of a faulty exhaust fan, he said. That caused the cafeteria's dry-fire suppression system to be activated. The dry system uses powders to put out the fire, he said.
No one was hurt, Johnson said.
Kids in the building for a summer school program will not be able to return to classes until Wednesday, he said. It will take that long to clean and restock the cafeteria, he said.
