Traffic was backed up on Interstates 64 and
77 in Charleston for much of the day Thursday after a
tractor-trailer wrecked because of icy road conditions. The
truck driver, Samual Quillen of Bloomville, Ohio, lost
control and ran off the road in the northbound lane near
Daniel Boone Park, according to a Kanawha County Sheriff’s
Department dispatcher. The vehicle then struck a utility
pole and a car in the southbound lane, the dispatcher said.
Both Quillen and the driver of the car, Louis Roe of
Hurricane, were taken to CAMC General Hospital with
injuries. The accident kept the southbound lanes of I-64 and
I-77 blocked from about 8 a.m. until well into Thursday
afternoon, the dispatcher said. Diesel fuel had to be
cleaned from the roadway, he said. |
