Area 40 Hose Fire 8/9/2008

One person was killed Saturday in a West Side house fire that firefighters called "suspicious."
Investigators had not identified the person killed as of late Saturday afternoon. The victim is believed to be male, but his age and identity had not been determined, said Tim Belcher, assistant chief for the Charleston Fire Department.
The fire began shortly after 1 p.m. on the porch of 509 Patrick St. near the Sixth Avenue intersection. Investigators do not know what caused the fire or if it was intentionally set, but they consider it a "suspicious" fire.
